Qt is a user interface framework used in Nokia Symbian and Meego phone operating systems. The licensing/services bit is being sold to Digia, a 1600 person tech company based in Finland, who says it will expand its geographic reach and continue to support the framework. CAD software vendors, notably Bentley, use Qt to support multiple desktop operating systems, so the change in ownership may cause some unease.

In GIS, Esri includes Qt in its ArcGIS Engine toolkit. Esri is currently looking to hire folks with Qt experience.
