Old Poll, New Poll

Back in early May we asked: Do you share your current location with anyone via social media tools (Twitter, Facebook, RSS, website, etc.)?

It seems those who read this geo focussed blog mostly do not. Of 74 responses:

Yes 22%
No 79%

I work for [insert Federal response agency name here] - we print a constant stream of hardcopy maps for the seniors and State/Local responders every time there's a disaster.

It's as if these people are unable to comprehend a map unless it's a full-size plot hanging on the wall.

And heaven forbid we not have the latest and greatest already hanging there when the TV cameras show up.

Piece of advice to newbies in the disaster response business - watch out when the SES'ers start hanging around your EOC and asking for irrelevant statistics...they're getting ready to jump in the frame when the politicos show up and cameras start rolling.

I wish just once we could NOT print a map.
