Some interesting insights and one oversight (in my humble opinion) in those highlights.

No question location provides the intersecting context between two otherwise disparate resources: people and items/services for sale. If I have a retail coffee shop, out of the 6.6 Billion humans on this earth, your best customer prospect is the 150 currently within 2.5 blocks of your door. ALL are potential customers. There is no mail list you can buy that is THAT pertinent and THAT specific. Paying $1/name would be a lot cheaper than printing fliers and hiring a dude in a bunny suit to hand them out... which is the only competitive location intelligent solution.

However, the comment about "our users aren't coming from iPhones" is changing as fast as you can say it.

I sat in on 10 technology startup company pitches yesterday in Boulder, CO. 5 of them pitched apps for the iPhone to add the mobile component of their internet service offerings. 2 months ago, there were 6 million iphones that couldn't run software. Today there are 9 million iPhones that can.

The dynamics of location-based commerce are rapidly changing.
