Making Money with Google Earth in the Pool Biz

Chris McCall lives in Provo, Utah. To identify potential clients for his pool cleaning business he used Google Earth to find properties that had pools. Then he drove around the city to determine their addresses. Then he sent out fliers and business seems to be booming.

I remember reading a story (sorry, no link) about a roofer who used Google Earth to identify roofs in need of repair and launch a marketing campaign.

That was for aerials and not via Google Earth. It was however noted on this blog from a press release.

Wait a minute! I hope he doesn't patent that, because that was my "canonical example" of web mapping back in the late 1990's. Except I called it "Joe's Pool Service". And, I admittedly figured he would be able to tell which pools actually needed work based on their color.
