Using Google Location Databases for Evil
Samy Kamkar detailed how that can be done at the Black Hat conference last week in Las Vegas. It’s an attack that can be trigged by a visit to malicious site. That in turn provided the MAC address of the machine, which in turn can, using Firefox’s location tools be located against Google’s Wi-Fi database.
Said Kamkar, who has been prosecuted, but not jailed for other exploits, “This is geo-location gone terrible. Privacy is dead people. I’m sorry.”
