Using Google Earth for 911
An exploration of the accuracy of cell phone 911 locating by the Grand Rapids (MI) Press included this tidbit:
The phones send the coordinates to dispatch computers. At the State Police post, dispatchers load coordinates onto Google Earth, a Web site with global satellite photographs.
