Update: ESRI Invites You to “Make a Map”

Update: The site and app are now out of beta. Besides links to APIs, there’s data for ArcGIS Explorer and a link to a forum.

The beta site allows users to create a demographic map of the US, then link to it or embed it a a webpage. The basic goal of the site: “
We encourage you to freely create and share demographic Web maps.” There’s more at the About page. For now the plan seems to be simply to gather feedback and show off what’s possible with the APIs, but I expect to see this sort of technology more fully integrated with ESRI’s APIs and SAAS offerings.

Below is a map of my neighborhood’s median age.
