Update: Earthcomber Takes on Zagat on Patent Infringement

I received an e-mail today from Jim Brady, CEO of Earthcomber to let me know that the case had been settled. Zagat Survey is licensing Earthcomber’s patent for use on the iPhone, Android platform and in-car GPS units.

- official statement (pdf)

—- original post 3/11/10——

River Forest, Illiinois-based “Earthcomber LLC claims Zagat Survey LLC is violating its patent for “System and method for providing location-based information to mobile customers” with its “ZAGAT TO GO ‘09” mobile application, which determines the location of users based on satellites and notifies them of nearby restaurant locations….”

The patent is System and method for providing location-based information to mobile consumers.

Earthcomber walked away from a suit against Loopt and TechCrunch in 2009.
