Update: All 43 Police Forces in England and Wales offer Online Crime Maps

Update: 1/15/09: The Guardian provides a link to the listing of the 43 forces (though not to the mapping page of each). In an article today it highlights how the maps are but a first step. Timely as I take crime maps in Directions today.

—original post 1/6/09—-

They’ve all been published online as of today per the Home Office. The plan to put the maps online was the result of the publication of a Cabinet Office report noting citizens felt ‘cut off’ from the justice department. The effort to put the maps online began last summer.

It seems they all use different technology (that’s fine by me) but I can’t find an index of them. I think that’d be a valuable addition. You can see a comparison of offenses by local authority with the Instant Atlas.
