Tying Together Mobile Video

UC San Diego computer science and engineering professor Bill Griswold, working on the project with Ph.D. candidate Neil McCurdy are showing their new technology to weave mobile real time and static images into a fly-through situational awareness solution. Of course, the first use might be homeland security, but virtual tourism is also of interest. The system creates an “illusion of complete live camera coverage”. The interesting part to me is the metadata: if you don’t want to use older images, they can be hidden, toned in sepia or coded with a date.
