Survey: Redlands Character is Slipping Away

A report by economist John Husing for Redlands’ proposed economic development strategy reveals that sentiment, along with 60 suggestions to improve the city’s fortunes. The report was presented last night at a city council meeting. The bottom line: “Redlands has the ambitions of an historically wealthy community without the income to achieve them.”

Among the suggestions:

Redlands should help mapping software developer ESRI with expansion, staff recruiting and transit-oriented housing for its large number of younger, single employees, Husing recommends. ESRI has about 2,000 high-tech workers with average salaries of $75,000 a year.
