Skyhook Tech in MP3 Player
Skyhook Wireless (the Loki folks) announced at CES that its technology will be in a new MP3 player from Korean manufacturer ReignCom. It says in the (PDF only - WHY??) press release it’s a first!
Skyhook Wireless Inc., provider of the Wi-Fi Positioning SystemTM (WPS), today announced at the 2007 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) that ReignCom, a Korean manufacturer of media devices, will launch the Wi-Fi enabled iriver W10 portable media player with the Wi-Fi Positioning System from Skyhook Wireless. This device will be the first commercially available media player with location awareness, and will provide consumers with accurate location, enabling them to easily find places and things around them.
This to me has a sense of “we are doing this because we can” not “the market is demanding this” but that’s just my opinion.
