Retailers Counting Cars Using Remote Sensing for Black Friday Sales Projections
It’s no secret that retailers count cars in parking lots to look at both their own sales potential as well as those of their competitors. And it’s also not a secret that they use remotely sensed imagery to do that. But the last several years have been unkind to retails and with the recession ending perhaps they needed a bit more assurance that Black Friday would actually push them into the black. Below is a story from MSNBC about Remote Sensing Metrics, a Chicago-based company that is counting cars for some retailers. The original story I found was mentioned by @SASRetail via Twitter and published in HotHardware.com.
