Pitney Bowes Has Weak Q1

Earlier this week Pitney Bowes announced less than stellar results for Q1. Two other releases put on a brave face. (1, 2) There’s no real mention of MapInfo since the acquisition is so new. But, head to the MapInfo website and you see a new page touting the acquisition before you can get to the MapInfo home page.

Seeking Alpha offers some analysis of the quarterly results. It offers that the company’s statement that orders are soft and will pick up after the big U.S. postal increase (May 14 - have your 1 cent stamps yet?) is lame. Further, it identifies anecdotal information that the new batch of mailing products are not performing well.
