Somewhat like geocaching, the G.P.S.-based twist on treasure hunts, geotagging could be viewed as something that was invented so people would have some use for their hand-held satellite-based location finders.
I’m not sure I buy that…
Last month, at the Chicago Marathon, roughly 35 of 100 pacers used G.P.S. technology to stay on track, said Dennis Linehan, the pace team coordinator.
I train with a GPS but never race with one.
