New Palermo Map Shows “Anti-Mafia” Shops
Sicily’s capital Palermo has many shops, and many owners pay extortion money to the Mafia. The German embassy in Rome is fighting back with a map. German tourists outnumber all others both in number and spending, so a new map guides them to shops that refuse to pay the kickbacks. The idea is to support the people of Palermo and the visitors who want to support it (and not racketeering).
