NAVTEQ Acquires The Map Network
That’s two acquisitions in two months or so for NAVTEQ. The first was of Traffic.com, which I thought was a great one. The Map Network produces destination and special events maps n print and online. Its best known client? USA Today.
NAVTEQ sees the acquisition as a way to get good local information, something that’s clearly in demand as the world learns about navigation and local search tools. I could not find any informatoin about the size of the company, but did see that it has its own proprietary technology for mapping.
