NakdReality Wants to One-Up SimpleGeo on Search Engines, Being More Open

NakdReality has guts, so I’m going to help them tell their story. After noting my coverage of SimpleGeo’s launch, the CEO e-mailed me the company press release (like SimpleGeo’s, dated Mar 31) and highlighted in her message what distinguishes NakdReality’s offering from SimpleGeo’s:

* Unlike SimpleGeo which only has a point-of-interest engine, NakdReality also offers three location search engines: category search, keyword search, and product search.

* NakdReality’s engines are 100% open source, so the service has no service lock-in.  Using what appears to be a closed infrastructure like SimpleGeo’s represents much more of a business risk for clients.

We’ll see how that plays out.
