MapTango: Does the world need another mapping/social/post photos app?
One new way to announce your new geo product is to follow a geo publication on Twitter. It seems to work - I did go check out @maptango which had no tweets, but did have a link. That led me to the app and a “post” on the app that the beta was now open. What is it? Per the site:
MapTango is a geosocial application that enables you to create unique views of information and photos by creating custom maps and gives you the ability to communicate with friends and interact relative to location and time.
The app, Google Maps-based, looks like all those “put Tweets on map” type apps. I chose not to sign up and instead looked for more information. I found the only coverage at KillerStartups.com (which seems to have changed business models since last I visited). That discussion didn’t offer much beyond the fact that MapTango can post geotagged images and that posts to MapTango can be forwarded as tweets.
The company behind MapTango is called Scalable Architectures, LLC.
I’m looking forward to statements from the company about this offering is different from all the others out there.
