MapQuest Gets Images

As has been alluded to for some time, MapQuest finally has an “aerial image” button on its maps. There is no “hybrid” just now and as noted on Import Cartography, the data is from i-cubed. I could only get to zoom level 14 before the image was unavailable. I do like that the button says “aerial imagery” not satellite. If the company does get satellite imagery at some point, perhaps they’ll change it.

I’ve seen no announcement of this addition in the press yet today, but will keep an eye out.
