Mapping Swine Flu

Voxy in NZ covers the tech covering the Swine Flu Outbreak that hit the news on Saturday in the U.S. One way to keep track of both the map and the latest alerts is via HealthMap. While there’s been a load on the server, its one of the best ways to get at authoritative sources.

This article, along with others with citations (best practice for bloggers so far as I am concerned), seems to be drawn from material on Mashable.

Also noteworthy, the global H1N1 Swine Flu map created by someone named niman with no sources cited. I continue to worry about mashups when there is no way to track back to the source data.

You can also look at Google’s Flu Trends graphics/maps. Remember that this map is built on user searches on the term flu but you can track back to the raw data.
