Mapping Recycling Bins and other Education GIS News
Researchers in the Spatial Applications and Research Center at New Mexico State University recently mapped the outdoor recycling bins on campus and determined they are not evenly distributed across campus and need to be closer to buildings. Those who conducted the study predict that relocating the bins may lead to increased recycling.
Maybe this will be the new thing to map on campus after the explosion in tree mapping.

Philadelphia University’s College of Architecture and the Built Environment GeoDesign and Landscape Architecture Programs hosted its Inaugural GeoDesign Forum Oct 4. According to Claudia Philips, director of Philadelphia University’s geodesign and landscape architecture programs, the annual forum shares the latest technology with students, faculty and others in the field. This year’s focus was 3D technologies.
About a dozen Senators are looking for GIS interns. No info on if the work is paid, when it might start or anything, but we do know Esri is organizing application from college students.
