Loopt Moves into “Rewards” with Loopt Star

Mashable calls Loopt Star “a virtual loyalty card with a built-in social game.” There’s a game component - “compete with friends on check-ins” but also “coupons” to be won and redeemed at businesses. It’s iPhone only for now. The differentiator from Foursquare and Gowalla? The focus is on the rewards. Brands at launch include The Gap, Universal Records, Burger King, Starbucks and Stanford University.

Mashable likes the apps simplicity and the fact that it piggybacks on Facebook and is NOT its own network. Loopt states that Facebook going into location will not hurt its app, but help it.
