LIghtsquared Update - LightSquared Argues Limiting its Plan Decreases Value of Spectrum - 8/23/11

A study, prepared by Brattle Group economist Coleman Bazelon, commissioned by LightSquared, found that blocking LightSquared's network would create new uncertainty in wireless spectrum regulation. That in turn would decrease the value of wireless spectrum. Jeff Carlisle, vice president of public policy and regulatory affairs for LightSquared, continued to argue the fault lies in the GPS industry and that his company has offered funds for research for a solution. The report was unveiled at meeting for reporters. I suggested some time ago this was going to argued in the press.
