Intergraph Introduces Spatial Modeler, Graphical Interface for Developing Complex Workflows #hex12
Today, Intergraph introduced the "next generation" of ERDAS IMAGINE's Spatial Modeler and I spent some time getting a demo of it's functionality. Spatial Modeler, within the core set of geospatial technology functionality, is a long time in coming as competitors have had similar functionality for some time. Spatial Modeler is capable of providing users with tools to script basic workflow "conditions" and do so graphically. Then they can be used as components to create more complex geospatial workflows. Models can be saved and reused. Batch processing is possible and the architecture is such that programmers can create functions of their own via Python scripting. It's origin is in the ERDAS product line and remains there today. In future releases you can expect to see it in GeoMedia. But for now, Spatial Modeler allows the user to access functionality from GeoMedia but in an ERDAS environment. I think users will find this a welcomed new addition especially to those who need to chain together workflows and model scenarios allowing for an interative process environment.
