China


Chinese private car owners will be able to enjoy positioning services provided by the Beidou satellite navigation and positioning system starting in 2012, said Sun Jiadong, chief designer of the Beidou satellite navigation and positioning system. 

China currently has seven satellites in orbit.

The Delhi cabinet has approved the draft Delhi Geospatial Data Infrastructure Bill, 2011 - a flagship project of the city government launched to frame and implement policies for issues relating to geospatial data.

Pakistan

According to a press release, Mir Changez Jamali, Federal Minister for Science and Technology, renewed this commitment at the mega launching ceremony of “GIS for Salt Sector for Pakistan” here at Islamabad Club on Tuesday. Jamali, as the chief guest of GIS launch, appreciated the Health Ministry and Nutrition Wing for its use of digital era’s latest technology to analyse Iodine Deficiency Disorder (IDD) Project outputs.
