Indoor Tracking App from GISi Makes Debut at Esri UC

I've been tracking indoor location applications for several years and have seen many interesting possibilities recently. At this year's Location Intelligence Conference we had two sessions on indoor positioning and its applications for retailers. So, I was anxious to see the indoor tracking app that GISi, a Birmingham, Alabama based company, built for attendee tracking at the Esri User Conference this. The app didn't disappoint. Most of the data was anonymized though users could opt-in and when they would enter a certain geofence they would be rewarded with a prize or coupon. This is a proof of concept app and GISi is working with many of the indoor positioning technology companies to sort out which one offers the best options for specific applications. GISi recently announced the formation GISi Indoors, of a new business unit. The best way to understand how the app works is to watch the demo below that i recorded at the conference.
