Hi-Fi 3D from Geoweb3D

Out of the world of flight simulation, a small start-up company called Geoweb3D is introducing high-fidelity, advanced 3D rendering using a technology called "differed shading" and integrating the technology with ESRI’s ArcGIS. The technology allows the user to create viewsheds and line of site visualization much more rapidly says Bob Holicky, president of Geoweb3D. Holicky hopes to bring "gaming grade visualization" to GIS. Currently the company is working with SAIC with the objective of offering the technology to government and corporate clients who want to go beyond simple building information models. Holicky says that what is lacking right now is good content to help his technology soar because "the rendering quality is proportional to the content." Currently his product sells for $5000 for a single unit but his goal is not to stay at a high end price. The company was bootstrapped by its founders and does not have venture funding at this time.
