Guardian: Local Authorities Tending to Google Maps over OS
The Guardian (UK) reports on the Society of Information Technology Management’s recent study of local authority websites and their support of maps. “The society tested local authority websites against four key indicators: only 56% of councils had clickable maps; just 35% offered a way to find schools on a map. And only 13% offered a help facility.” The article goes on to note how some authorities are looking to use Google Maps instead of licensing expensive Ordnance Survey data. And, final, the article calls for “freeing” UK data.
