Google/Virtual Earth “Uses”

Geosage “uses” Google Maps to show of its suprior imagery. The company, which sells high end retouched imagery from DigitalGlobe offers a comparison between its offerings and Google Maps’ version. The only challenge is that you have to actually go to Google Maps to see that version and there’s no way to see them side by side or maybe with the cool slider that unpeels one from on top of the other (I know Telemorphic offers that feature). While the idea, from a marketing standpoint is good, the executive could be better.

Another hacker built a Flash viewer for Google Maps imagery and Virtual Earth. Yep, Flash. The blog entry from the folks who built it is here. I read about it via Google Maps Mania. I’m not sure what this is for, but I am looking forward to the hoped for addition of TerraServer (um, isn’t Virtual Earth already built on that?) and World Wind (Landsat).
