Google Tracks Transportation

Gary Price at Search Engine Watch notes a new location-based goodie from Google Labs: Google Ride Finder. Google has partnered with taxi, shuttle and other transportation services in 10 areas (so far) to provide a “nearest transportation” application. This is real time tracking of “for hire” vehicles, and as Price notes, may not necessarily mean the quickest service, but it’s not a bad start. The data is less than 5 minutes old, according to Google. This is one of the few location-based services I’d gladly use.
