Google “Motion Based Profiles” Patent

The patent “Activating Applications Based on Accelerometer Data” basically aims to protect a process for collecting information based on the accelerometer in a cell phone to help determine what the person carrying the phone might be doing. Then the device and operate accordingly, (turn on apps, etc.)

So, my phone might be smart enough not to ring while I was traveling at 20 mph on my bike (that doesn’t happen too much) or when I’m moving the lawn and take a message instead.
