Google Location Filtering Patent: For Google Book Scanning?
Patent #7,664,751, is titled “Variable user interface based on document access privileges.” It was submitted to the patent office in September, 2004 and was awarded to Google last Tuesday. It basically describes a method of limiting access to content based on permissions and location. Ars Technica thinks it’s a tool to help Google get around different copyright laws in different countries when it rolls out its book scanning project.
