Google 411 and Updating Business Locations
Tim O’Reilly suggests (and this sounds totally plausable to me) that Google real’s motivation in its new free 411 “find me the nearest” via a voice call is collecting a database of speech on which to build its own core for future speech recognition projects. Does that apply to my suspicion about Google’s collection of updated business locations? Is Google prototyping building it’s own datasets for mapping?
