The Agricultural Development and Value Chain Enhancement (ADVANCE) Program is to carry out a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) mapping exercise of rice, soya and maize fields in the Northern, Upper East and Upper West regions of Ghana.
The programme funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is scheduled to begin from July 11 to August 11, 2011 with the aim of increasing the competitiveness of the food crops through better use of improved technologies.

QUETTA - A four-day training programme titled “Introduction to Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing” was inaugurated here at a local hotel on Tuesday. Provincial Environment Secretary Dr Saqib Aziz inaugurated the programme, organised by the IUCN Balochistan.

A new Peace Corps Volunteer, who is an expert in Geographic Information System, has been assigned to help at the Provincial Disaster Management Program (PDMP)Division under the Office of the Governor in Negros Occidental.
Donald P. Sims, from Montana, USA, has been in the PDMP since July 1 and will be in the province for six months.
