Garmin Continues to Like Sports for Marketing
First the company hired basketball star Yao Ming to push its nav systems. And, it ponies up for NASCAR driver Jeff Green and Craftsman Truck driver Chad McCumbee. Now, it’s signed a one-year sponsorship deal with English soccer team Middlesbrough Football Club. This last move, per an AP article, is meant to get the company name out more in Europe, where it trails TomTom. One other detail: the players will be wearing Garmin devices to track heart rate, speed and distance of the players. Sounds like they’ll be wearing the latest ForeRunner.
