ESA Detailed Landcover Data Free Online
The Euopean Space Agency’s Envisat environmental satellite has captured what are reported to be the highest resolution images of their kind: “ten times sharper than any previous global satellite map.” The images are the first products of the agency’s GlobCover project. They are accessible via a dedicated site.
The sensor, Envisat’s Medium Resolution Imaging Spectrometer (MERIS) acquired images in polar orbit at an altitude of 800 km with a spatial resolution of 300 metres.
