Doug Nebert Passes

We've received the sad news that Doug Nebert, 51, and one passenger of a plane he was piloting in Oregon died in a crash landing on Sunday. One survivor remains in the hospital.

Nebert worked for the United States Geological Survey and the Federal Geographic Data Committee and was well known for his contributions to metadata and standards. I knew him through my work the OGC which honored him with its Gardels Award in 2005.

We offer our condolences to his friends and family.
