Crowdsourcing Bike Rack Locations

FixCity.org is a project of The Open Planning Project (we know the geo folks, they are OpenGeo!). Being trialled in NYC, the first focus is on bike racks. The idea is to have cyclists suggest the best locations for bike racks and even check if they meet the requirements of the city.

I love this idea since not everyone gets that the yoga studio on the corner needs more bike parking than the bank across the street. I like to see this go further - to help pressure businesses to make their private property bike parking “realistic.” (Yes, I’m talking to you Star Market on Beacon Street!)
