Crowdsourced Moon Mapping: As Good as Experts
That’s the word from Chris Lintoot who heads up Moon Zoo, a moon mapping project based on Galaxy Zoo, an “evaluate what Hubble sees” project. Both use amateurs to sort though the gigs of data coming back from space. Moon Zoo has regular folks size craters and compare scenes for “number of boulders.” The results, based on random checks of the data are: “as good as you would get from an expert”.
