Court Reverses: Licensee of AutoCAD Cannot Resell it on eBay
I’ve pointed to others in the CAD space to cover this long, long case, which basically asked if a licensee (user) of AutoCAD, one Mr. Vernor, could sell his copy on eBay. He couldn’t, then he could and now we are back to he cannot, per the 9th Circuit ruling.
“Since Autodesk licensed the software to its first purchaser, federal copyright law does not allow resales by individuals like Vernor, the court ruled.”
