Change Afoot at Google Maps

Visited Google Maps recently? It now centers on your location, based say some folks, on IP address mapping. Works for my location outside Boston noting my zip code – which is clearable – on the left side. Strangely, the text and examples used to be on right of the map…

By default, searches apply to this new area of interest. Apparently the underlying change has caused some mash-ups to break. I suspect it’ll make other mash-ups easier to use. One of the pedometer apps I use is based in the midwest, so I always have to “scoot” over to Boston.
