Business Address Merging in Google Maps: Beware

(based on one from Mike Blumenthal) at Search Engine Land about how Google’s internal systems actually merge business addresses. Sometimes they are similar and sometimes not, but the result in one case, was a doctor who could not be found. We in geospatial worry quite a bit about errors in geocoding (and we should) but this is another type of potentially dangerous processing error.
(It does not seem to explain why I get so many phone calls from folks who think I’m an immigration lawyer.)
