Blue Cross to Fund Park GIS
The insurance company is helping fund Carver County Minnesota’s program to map local parks and trails. The idea is to get more people active. So, employees were out mapping trails with GPSs. Fine. Here’s my question, based on this quote:
Studies have shown “a correlation between trail access and physical activity,” according to Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota.
Ok, but have studies shown that having interactive maps makes people more likely to hit the trails? I’m just asking…
Also interesting:
The article intro: “In a world with Google Earth, the Three Rivers Park District’s PDF park maps are looking downright old-fashioned. Their paper versions? Practically archaic.”
GIS is defined: “Global Information Systems” (I sent an e-mail on that already!)
