BatchGeo Eliminates Some Geocoding Features Per Google Request

Google has asked BatchGeo to discontinue its online tool for extracting geocoded coordinates in bulk. It’s based on Google’s API. BatchGeo’s use of Google code breaks the Google terms of service. A Google Product Manager (Google Maps API) explains it has to do with Google’s data providers. “Google does not own the majority of the data on which the Maps API is built. It is licensed from third party companies who make a business of collecting and selling that data.”
