Backseat Playground

John Paul Bichard, a digital artist at The Interactive Institute in Stockholm is trying to solve the Уare we there yetФ problem without subjecting children to an ongoing parade of DVD cartoons and movies in the back seat. His project, Backseat Playground, just recently funded by Microsoft Research, aims to use the trip as part of an interactive game. It would use GPS, pointing devices, local wireless connectivity and even digital maps. The adventure game would weave a plot into existing landscapes using objects outside the window as part of the story. Sounds complex to build, but potentially fun to play.
