A year of city life via GPS in 45 seconds
Fabian wore a GPS while he lived in Plymouth, England. The data was overlaid on an aerial image and compressed into a 45 second video. (He’s done other years in other cities.) My take and video below.
We did this in college geography class by hand, but for just a week. We each had a big roll up map of the extended area of campus (Hyde Park, Chicago) and drew our routes and used different colored/sized squares to show how long we spent in studying and other activities in different locations. My life was pretty predictable (dorm, gym, Regenstien, chem lab, Pick…). My life now is equally patterned with regular “orbits.” Just like then, I’d bet I spend 90% of my time within a 2 mile radius of my house.
