Three GLONASS Birds to Launch on Christmas Day
Russia will launch the three satellites into its navigation constellation on December 25 from the Baikonur space center in Kazakhstan, Russia. (Santa should be back at the north pole by then, right?)

Podcast: Three LBS Events, One Takeaway: One Device for Work and Play
Editor in Chief Joe Francica ran the LBS gauntlet last week by attending NAVTEQ Connections, CTIA and the SiRF Location 2.0 Summit. The big takeaway is the power of a single device to manage one business and personal life on a single location-enabled device. Galileo Giove-B Safely in Orbit
The satellite is the second experimental satellite in the constellation. The EU is going forward with the GPS competitor and B will take over for "A" launched in 2005, as it hits and of life.

MyAthlete Race Tracking for Boston Marathon
MyAthlete is the latest offering of track tools - this one aimed at endurance athletes such a marathons and triathletes. You carry the device and anyone with Web access (via cell say) can track you on a map. The device will be used by Team Hoyt at Monday's Boston Marathon. (Dad Dick pushes son Rick in a specially- made wheelchair.) The interesting thing about this device - you can rent it and return it after a race.
