I don't know that I made anyone at Autodesk particularly mad. OK -- maybe I'm wrong. I'm pretty outspoken, and people tend to remember when I say something they dislike, and forget when I say something they like.

In any case, I understand that Autodesk's decision that the Open Design Alliance is a competitor, and should not be admitted to AU, did come down from the top.

Incidentally, we also wanted to attend the DWF conference, since we're a major DWF developer. Our CTO is in Florida, close to Orlando, and would have been able to come. In this instance, they told us ahead of time that we weren't welcome to attend, because we weren't members of the Autodesk Developer Network. (And, again, we've asked about joining that, and been told "no way.")

Many of our member companies have various levels of relationships and partnerships with Autodesk. We think that's a good thing -- it benefits customers. Microsoft is one of our members -- but we don't make a major deal out of it. They simply use some of our technology in their products.
Same with IBM, Adobe, NEC, and a bunch of other large (and small) companies.
