Three of Four NZ ICT Awards Related to Geo
The 2009 Excellence in the Use of ICT in Government Awards for New Zealand were announced last night. Three of the four winners related to geo (by my understanding):
The Ministry of Environment won with its Land Use and Carbon Analysis System (LUCAS), built to meet New Zealand’s domestic and international reporting obligations. It uses geodata for landuse and analysis for change detection.
The Dept of Corrections wanted to block/limit cell calls with prisons, but not for the neighbors.
LINZ Landonline is the official online service for surveyors, lawyers and other professionals to search and lodge title dealings and survey data digitally. Public counters for this type of work were closed in February and now just 3 percent of transactions can't be done online.
